The shed in the foreground is tight against a fence, which is also tight against the larger shed in the background. One of these is clearly not in the correct place. This Calgary neighborhood has many winding roads and non-parallel property lines. Placing fences and sheds correctly is difficult without hiring a land surveyor. In this case, we determined the property line passes through the middle of the shed in the foreground.

What to do next

The owner could have entered into an agreement with their neighbor to legally cover the encroachment. However, they opted to remove the shed completely and correct the position of the fence. Our crew returned after the removal and updated our plan accordingly. We presented the report to the city and completed the compliance application process.
