If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a picture of parallel fences must be worth more. Clearly, there are at least two stories behind this set of fences between neighbours. Surveyors will always pay attention to these situations as there is likely a pre-existing dispute about the location of the property line.
My advice to you if you find yourself in this scenario is not to procrastinate ordering a Real Property Report. In this case, the subject lot is pictured on the left side. The newer fence on the right side is very close to the property line. The result is the older fence on the left is well within the subject property and caused no problem with regard to the sale of the property, however, it took a heroic amount of surveying to figure that out!
